BAKU, Dec 25 (AZERTAC/APP/DNA):The Indonesian government has tasked state-owned enterprises (SOEs) with building 15,000 homes for residents displaced by floods and landslides in Sumatra, Head of the SOE Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) Dony Oskaria stated, according to ANTARA.
“Our target is to complete 500 housing units within the first week after SOEs received the instruction to construct 15,000 residences this month,” he noted in a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the Cabinet Secretariat Office in Jakarta on Wednesday night (December 24), reaffirming that SOEs remain committed to supporting ongoing disaster response efforts in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Highlighting the urgent need to promptly restore telecommunication infrastructure in the aftermath of the disaster, he noted that SOEs have been working to return base transceiver stations to optimal function to support public connectivity and emergency operations in the field.
Oskaria, who also serves as Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia, further remarked that SOEs will continue to mobilize resources on a large scale to disaster-stricken areas, including by deploying heavy equipment, water bowsers, and thousands of workers to expedite cleanup and recovery efforts.
“SOEs are engaged not only in physical construction but also in measures aimed at ensuring that disaster victims can return to normalcy,” he stressed.
The official also pointed to ongoing efforts to restore the operations of state-run banks in the affected regions, expressing hope for the immediate reopening of services to support community economic activities.
Furthermore, he reiterated that SOEs will remain at the forefront of every step toward rehabilitation, assuring the public that they share a social responsibility to the nation and the state.
“This is not merely about duty; this is about a call of humanity. Together with the people, we must move swiftly to recover from the crisis,” he concluded.
