Railways retrieve 3,509 Sq Ft of its land in Rawalpindi Division
ISLAMABAD, Jan 02 (APP/DNA):Pakistan Railways’ Rawalpindi Division has reclaimed approximately 3,509 square feet of valuable railway land, worth several million rupees, during an anti-encroachment operation against land grabbers.

The operation was carried out on the directives of Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, under which Pakistan Railways has intensified efforts to remove illegal occupations from railway property, according to a news release issued on Friday.

A joint anti-encroachment drive was conducted by Pakistan Railways in collaboration with the Railway Police. As part of the renewed campaign, more effective and comprehensive measures against encroachments have been in force since January 1, 2026.

During the operation, 11 illegally constructed commercial shops on railway land were either fully or partially demolished. However, on humanitarian grounds, certain residential and commercial portions were not completely razed.

The drive was supervised by the Divisional Engineer-I, Deputy Director (Land), and the Superintendent of Railway Police to ensure transparency and effective implementation.

Pakistan Railways has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national assets and will continue decisive action to eliminate encroachments across the railway network.
