Bangladesh inform ICC they will not travel to India for World Cup

DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has once again informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that the Bangladesh national team will not play its T20 World Cup 2026 matches in India due to security concerns.

According to the BCB, a video conference took place between the board and the ICC regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026. During the meeting, the BCB repeated its decision not to travel to India for matches, citing security risks and stating that playing there is not possible under the circumstances.

The BCB asked the ICC to move Bangladesh’s matches to venues outside India. The ICC responded that the World Cup schedule has already been released and asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to reconsider its position.

Meanwhile, the BCB made it clear to the ICC that its stance remains unchanged, stressing that the safety of players and officials is the top priority. Discussions between the BCB and the ICC are continuing. BCB President Aminul Islam and other senior officials were present in the video meeting with the ICC.
