ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (DNA):The Judicial Commission of Pakistan on Thursday recommended the confirmation of 11 Additional Judges of the Lahore High Court as permanent judges, following a meeting held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The session was chaired by the Chief Justice of Pakistan in his capacity as Chairperson of the Commission.
According to an official statement, the Commission approved the confirmations by a majority vote after reviewing data forms, antecedents, and other evaluation material related to the judges under consideration.
The Additional Judges recommended for confirmation include:
Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Justice Sardar Akbar Ali, Justice Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Justice Malik Javid Iqbal Wains, Justice Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Justice Khalid Ishaq, Justice Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid, Justice Ch. Sultan Mahmood, Justice Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh and Justice Abher Gul Khan.
The Commission also recommended a six-month extension in the term of Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa, Additional Judge of the Lahore High Court. However, Justice Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan was not confirmed.
The recommendations of the Judicial Commission will now be forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment for further consideration, as required under the Constitution.
