CHAMAN, FEB 6: An attack took place on a polio eradication team in the Roghani area of Union Council Chaman, resulting in the death of a police officer assigned to security.
According to details, unknown militants attacked during the polio campaign. A police officer protecting the polio team was martyred at the scene. Deputy Commissioner Chaman Habib Ahmed Bangalzai said the polio team was engaged in the campaign when armed militants on a motorcycle attacked, martyring police officer Nizamuddin on the spot.
The polio team remained safe as they were administering polio drops to children inside a house. The body of the martyred police officer was taken to Chaman Civil Hospital for necessary legal procedures. After the incident, police cordoned off the area, and security arrangements were further tightened, the deputy commissioner said.
