ISLAMABAD, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and European Commissioner Magnus Brunner have strongly condemned the recent suicide bombing in Islamabad, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extending solidarity to Pakistan in the wake of the tragic incident.
In separate messages to Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, both leaders conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. “Deeply saddened to hear about the tragic incident. On behalf of the Italian government and myself, I express heartfelt sympathy with the victims,” Piantedosi said, adding that Italy stands firmly with the bereaved families and the people of Pakistan during this difficult time. He reaffirmed that Italy “strongly condemns all forms of terrorism” and remains ready to continue cooperation with Pakistan to combat the shared threat of extremism.
European Commissioner Magnus Brunner also extended condolences, stating, “Our prayers are with the victims and their families. We stand with the people of Pakistan in this hour of grief.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi thanked the Italian leadership and the European Commissioner for their expressions of solidarity. He said Pakistan has served as “a shield for the world against terrorism” and stressed the need for stronger global efforts, noting that “today, the world requires robust international measures to remain safe from terrorism.”
