ICCI stands in solidarity with Armed Forces: Sardar Tahir Mehmood

ISLAMABAD, FEB 27: /DNA/ – The leadership of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has strongly condemned the unprovoked aggression originating from the Afghan side of the Pak-Afghan border, characterizing it as a serious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.

In a joint statement, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, and Vice President Irfan Chaudhry expressed grave concern over the nighttime attack on Pakistani border posts, which they described as a condemnable act. The ICCI leadership asserted that such actions cannot undermine the resolve of the Pakistani nation. The leadership commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for delivering a prompt and robust response, reflecting professionalism and steadfast commitment to national defence.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces rank among the most capable globally and remain fully prepared to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity. He underscored that the business community stands in complete solidarity with the security forces in preserving national sovereignty and ensuring stability.

The ICCI leadership further observed that certain elements operating from Afghan territory,  acting as external proxies, are attempting to destabilise the region and impede Pakistan’s peace and economic progress. However, they clarified that Pakistan’s stance is not directed against the Afghan populace, with whom it shares longstanding religious, cultural, and historical ties. Rather, the response is aimed exclusively at elements involved in terrorism and activities that threaten Pakistan’s security.

Paying tribute to the sacrifices of security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, the ICCI office-bearers honoured their courage and reaffirmed the business community’s unwavering support for the armed forces. They reiterated that sustainable regional peace can only be achieved through mutual respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and sincere collective efforts to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
