Islamabad – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a productive telephone conversation this evening with Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Anita Anand.
The two leaders reviewed the positive momentum in Pakistan-Canada relations and explored avenues to deepen economic cooperation in key sectors such as agriculture, clean energy, and critical minerals. They highlighted the potential for expanded trade and investment, recognizing Canada’s abundant resources and Pakistan’s growing market opportunities.
FM Anand expressed appreciation for the vibrant Pakistani diaspora in Canada, which plays a vital role in fostering people-to-people connections and contributing to both societies. Both sides underscored the importance of nurturing these cultural and community links to further solidify bilateral engagement.
The ministers agreed on the value of sustained high-level exchanges and regular dialogue to maintain and accelerate the upward trajectory in relations.
The conversation also touched on evolving regional and global developments, particularly in the Middle East. DPM/FM Dar emphasized the need for dialogue, diplomacy, and strict adherence to international law to achieve de-escalation, protect civilians, and promote lasting stability across the wider region amid ongoing tensions.
