MINSK, Mar 17: Belarus has potential to double trade with Kazakhstan, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Timur Zhaksylykov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus, on 17 March, BelTA has learned.
The president noted that Kazakhstan is a key partner for Belarus among Central Asian countries. “A huge country, a vast population. Very good connections, very good plans for our cooperation,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The head of state noted that the current level of mutual trade in goods and services is quite high – more than $1.5 billion. But, as they say, there is always room for improvement, so the parties are building ambitious plans for the future. “We can easily double trade. We have the desire to do so,” the president emphasized.
In 2025 trade between Belarus and Kazakhstan amounted to approximately $1.383 billion, marking the highest figure since 2021. The balance is positive for Belarus, with export for the past year reaching $1.078 billion. Belarus primarily supplies cheeses, cottage cheese, milk and cream, sausages, meat products, beef, and wood-based panels to Kazakhstan.
