TEHRAN: Iran’s military spokesperson dismissed US ceasefire overtures, stating that the Americans are “negotiating with itself” amid internal divisions. The comment came shortly after the Trump administration reportedly sent a 15-point ceasefire plan to Tehran via Pakistan. Iran’s Foreign Ministry and parliament speaker have repeatedly denied any direct or indirect talks with Washington, calling such claims “fake news” designed to manipulate oil markets.

Trump’s Claims on Negotiations and Regime Change President Donald Trump has repeatedly asserted that productive talks are underway with “the right people” in Iran, who “want to make a deal so badly.” He has described the situation as having already achieved a form of “regime change,” noting that the current Iranian interlocutors differ significantly from those at the start of the conflict. Trump also delayed threatened strikes on Iranian power plants and expressed optimism about ending the nearly month-long war.

In a potential de-escalation signal, Iran notified the UN and International Maritime Organization that it will allow “non-hostile” vessels — including oil tankers not supporting aggression against Iran — safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, provided they coordinate with Iranian authorities. US and Israeli-linked ships remain excluded. The move follows disruptions that spiked global oil prices and comes alongside the reported US peace plan.

Hezbollah reported launching anti-aircraft missiles at Israeli fighter jets operating over southern Lebanon. Israeli sources described the incident as an unsuccessful attempt to down aircraft, followed by retaliatory strikes that eliminated the launching cell near Tyre. This fits into broader exchanges, with Israel conducting strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s southern suburbs and southern Lebanon, while capturing some Hezbollah operatives.

Fighting continues on multiple fronts, including Israeli strikes inside Iran and Iranian/Hezbollah missile/drone attacks toward Israel and Gulf areas. Diplomatic efforts appear mixed: public denials from Tehran contrast with reported indirect channels and partial easing of Hormuz restrictions. Oil prices have fluctuated sharply with these developments. The situation remains fluid, with risks of further escalation alongside hints of backchannel diplomacy.
