Pak-Italy trade witnesses over 19% surplus in 8 months

ISLAMABAD, Mar 31 (dna):Pakistan’s goods and services trade with Italy witnessed a surplus of 19.80 percent during the first eight months of the fiscal year (2025-26) as compared to the corresponding months of last year.

Trade surplus during the months under review was recorded at $441.227 million against $368.30 million last year, showing 19.80 percent growth.

The overall exports to Italy were recorded at US $790.848 million during July-February (2025-26) year against exports of US $749.444 million during the same months last year, showing an increase of 5.52 percent, SBP data revealed.

Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, exports to Italy during February 2026 increased by 9.51 percent from US $ 84.480 million to US $ 92.518 million.

Month-on-month exports to Italy also rose by 8.28 percent during February 2026 as compared with exports of US $ 85.443 million in January 2026, the SBP data said.

Overall Pakistan’s exports to all countries witnessed a decrease of 5.44 percent in eight months, from US $21.935 billion to US $20.741 billion, the SBP data said.

On the other hand, imports from Italy during the months under review were recorded at US $349.621 million against US $381.143 million of last year, showing a decrease of 8.27 percent in July-February (2025-26).

Meanwhile, year-on-year imports from Italy during February 2026 increased by 56.07 percent from US $31.907 million last year to US $49.798 million.

On a month-on-month basis, the imports from Italy also increased by 25.28 percent during February 2026 as compared to the import of US $39.748 million in January 2026, SBP data said.

The overall imports increased by 8.82 percent, from US $38.433 billion to US $41.823 million during the period under review.
