Sarmad Ali again elected as President of APNS

ISLAMABAD, Apr 01 (DNA):Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday extended his felicitations to the newly elected office-bearers of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS).

He conveyed his best wishes to Senator Sarmad Ali on his election as President, Naz Afreen Sehgal Lakhani as Senior Vice President, Shahab Zuberi as Vice President, Muhammad Athar Qazi as Secretary General, Mohsin Bilal as Joint Secretary, and Naveed Kashif as Finance Secretary.

He said that the confidence reposed by members in the new APNS leadership reflects their ability to align the newspaper industry with contemporary requirements.

The Chairman expressed hope that the newly elected team would adopt a comprehensive strategy to effectively address the economic and professional challenges faced by the newspaper industry.

He said that a responsible and well-informed media not only promotes democratic values but also plays a vital role in strengthening national discourse.

He further said that the Senate, as the Upper House of Parliament, would continue to support the protection of press freedom and the institutional strengthening of the media.

He conveyed his best wishes for the success of the newly elected leadership and for the promotion of quality journalism in the country.

Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected office-bearers of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS).

In his felicitation message, the Speaker congratulated Senator Sarmad Ali on being elected President, Ms. Naz Afreen Sehgal Lakhani as Senior Vice President, Shahab Zuberi as Vice President, Muhammad Athar Qazi as Secretary General, Mohsin Bilal as Joint Secretary, and Naveed Kashif as Finance Secretary, along with other members of the newly elected governing body.

The Speaker said that the success of the newly elected leadership reflects the confidence reposed in them by members of the organization in recognition of their abilities and leadership qualities.

He expressed hope that the new leadership would play a pivotal role in effectively addressing the challenges faced by the newspaper industry.

Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that a free, independent and responsible press is a cornerstone of any democratic society.

“The media plays a vital role in promoting public awareness, national development and democratic stability,” he added.

He further reaffirmed that Parliament remains committed to addressing the issues faced by the media, particularly the newspaper industry and will continue to extend full cooperation in this regard.

The Speaker also conveyed his best wishes to the newly elected APNS leadership for a successful tenure.
