ICCI President invites diaspora to invest in Pakistan and AJK for mutual growth

ISLAMABAD, APR 1: /DNA/ – President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood has emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the business community and the media to ensure effective dissemination of information and to promote trade, investment, and economic activities in the country.

He expressed these views while addressing a delegation of the Kashmir Journalists Forum, led by its President Sardar Irfan Sadozai, which visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that the media plays a pivotal role in highlighting economic opportunities and business initiatives, adding that close liaison between ICCI and journalists is essential for keeping the business community informed about emerging investment prospects and policy developments.

Highlighting the investment potential of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), he said that the region offers vast opportunities particularly in tourism, mines and minerals, and the information technology sector. He noted that ICCI is actively working to connect investors from Pakistan and Azad Kashmir to facilitate mutually beneficial economic partnerships and unlock the region’s untapped potential.

The ICCI President further said that the recent Middle East conflict has opened new avenues for Pakistan and Azad Kashmir to attract foreign investment, especially from overseas Pakistanis and the Kashmiri diaspora. He stressed that by providing a conducive investment environment and proper facilitation, the country can capitalize on these opportunities.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that as the premier chamber of the federal capital, ICCI is committed not only to promoting business activities in Islamabad but also to contributing to the overall economic development of Pakistan. He acknowledged the vital role of overseas Pakistanis and Kashmiris in strengthening the national economy through their foreign exchange remittances.

He added that ICCI is determined to provide overseas investors with a single-window facilitation mechanism to address their concerns and guide them in making productive investments. “The Chamber will continue to act as a bridge between investors, the Government of Pakistan, and the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to enhance economic cooperation and investment,” he remarked.

In his welcome address, ICCI Vice President Irfan Chaudhry highlighted the achievements of the Chamber under the leadership of President Sardar Tahir Mehmood and said that constructive dialogue between the media and business community is essential for promoting economic awareness and growth.

Earlier, President Kashmir Journalists Forum Sardar Irfan Sadozai briefed the participants about the objectives of the forum and stressed the importance of strengthening connectivity between the Chamber and the journalists’ community. He also appreciated the efforts of ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood for actively promoting and highlighting the investment potential of Azad Jammu and Kashmir alongside Pakistan.

Among others present on the occasion were ICCI Executive Member Ms. Shumaila Siddiqui, Senior Member Hazoor-ul-Islam Abbasi, Akhtar Abbasi, and members of the Kashmir Journalists Forum.

Kashmir Journalist Forum’s delegation included Secretary General Maqsood Muntazir, Secretary Finance Sardar Imran Azam, Senior Vice President  Iqbal Awan, Khalid Gardezi, Haseeb Shabbir, Qazi Sagheer, Zahoor Alam, Sardar Nadeem, Sardar Nisar Tabbasum, Liaqat Mughal, Talha Sadozai and Raja Ahsan Hameed.
