TEHRAN: Iran has announced that it will not be sending its delegation to Pakistan for the second round of direct talks with the United States.

Ismail Baqai, spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters that Iran currently has no plans to participate, citing a deep lack of trust in America along with excessive US demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in the American position, and contradictions in their approach. Iran is particularly upset over the ongoing US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, which it sees as a clear violation of the existing ceasefire.

The first round of talks held in Islamabad earlier this month lasted over 21 hours but ended without a full agreement, with both sides blaming each other for the lack of progress. Pakistan has been actively mediating between the two countries, but Tehran is now conditioning any further negotiations on the US first easing its military pressure. This development comes amid a very fragile ceasefire and rising tensions in the region.

Meanwhile China has strongly condemned the US action of seizing the Iranian cargo ship
