Pakistan’s constructive role for regional peace praised by Sherry Rehman

ISLAMABAD, APR 20 (DNA): Pakistan Peoples Party Senator (PPP) Sherry Rehman Monday urged for extension of the ceasefire, stressing that only sustained, meaningful dialogue can ensure lasting regional peace, while commending Pakistan’s maturity and its proactive role in bringing nations together for constructive engagement.

While speaking to a local news channel, Sherry Rehman said the second round of talks is set to begin, describing it as a crucial phase in efforts to bring stability to the region.

She acknowledged that the process remains complex, noting that challenges persist, but emphasized that such difficulties are part of any serious and result-oriented dialogue aimed at lasting peace.

She highlighted that Pakistan has demonstrated restraint and maturity throughout, responsibly fulfilling its role in promoting engagement and DE-escalation.

Rehman stated that Pakistan’s efforts are being carried out at the highest level, reflecting a strong commitment by the leadership to ensure stability and constructive diplomacy.

She also appreciated the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, noting that Pakistan’s strategic direction has remained balanced and responsible.

Rehman further pointed to the presence of spoiler elements attempting to hinder progress, mentioning Israel’s role in slowing momentum, while also referring to signs of frustration on India’s side.

She stressed that such dynamics make it even more important for all stakeholders to stay focused on dialogue and avoid actions that could derail the process.

Emphasizing the way forward, she said that extending the ceasefire is essential to sustain progress. According to her, continuity in the ceasefire would provide the necessary space for meaningful negotiations and help move towards a logical and peaceful conclusion.

Concluding her remarks, she warned that failure to sustain the ceasefire could lead to serious consequences, urging all parties to demonstrate flexibility and political will.

She also expressed gratitude to brotherly countries for supporting Pakistan’s stance, emphasizing that continued international backing remains important for maintaining momentum toward peace.=DNA
