ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from Iranian Foreign Minister H.E. Abbas Araghchi.
According to the official readout, both sides exchanged views on regional developments, the ceasefire, and Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic facilitation role in the US-Iran engagement. Senator Dar underscored the importance of sustained dialogue and engagement to resolve outstanding issues at the earliest, in order to advance regional peace and stability. FM Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s consistent and constructive efforts, and both leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
This latest conversation comes amid lingering uncertainty over the future of the US-Iran ceasefire talks that had earlier prompted major security measures and transport disruptions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
As Pakistan continues its mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran, local residents hope that reduced security concerns will allow public transport to return to normal operations soon, enabling citizens to utilize — or benefit from an extension of — the free ride initiative before the energy relief period fully lapses.
