QUETTA, Apr 27: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has announced that the Balochistan Health Card Program is ensuring free and quality medical treatment for citizens across the province and beyond.
Sarfraz Bugti explained that every citizen’s national identity card serves as their health card, making access to healthcare simple and universal. The program has extended its network to include major public and private hospitals not only in Balochistan but across Pakistan.
According to official figures, 345,000 patients have received treatment under the program. Services provided include 69,000 dialysis sessions, over 44,000 chemotherapy treatments, and more than 1,200 radiotherapy sessions. For cardiac patients, 7,784 angioplasties and 575 bypass surgeries have been successfully performed, while 304 pediatric heart cases were treated free of cost.
The program has also facilitated 3,412 neurosurgeries and 12,300 orthopedic surgeries, along with 183 burn and plastic surgery cases. In maternal and child health, more than 55,000 cases have been handled, benefiting thousands of women. This includes 24,688 normal deliveries and 20,344 cesarean sections conducted under the health card scheme.
Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that the provincial government remains committed to further improving healthcare facilities and expanding services. He described the Health Card Program as a major relief for the people of Balochistan, ensuring that advanced medical care is accessible to all, regardless of financial status.
