UAE under attack from Iran for second day in a row

DUBAI, MAY 5: The UAE said Tuesday that its air defense systems were responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran, marking the second day in a row that it has come under attack.

The Emirati Ministry of Defense says its air defense systems were “actively engaging with missiles and UAV threats.”

On Monday, Emirati air defenses intercepted 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones launched from Iran on Monday, resulting in three moderate injuries. The UAE said it reserved the “full and legitimate right” to respond to the latest Iranian attacks.

Also Monday, the UAE condemned an Iranian drone attack on an ADNOC oil tanker in the blockaded Strait of Hormuz, as the United States prepared to begin escorting ships through the waterway.

Separately, two drones struck the MV Barakah off the coast of Oman on Monday, but no injuries were reported, ADNOC said, adding that the vessel was not carrying cargo.
