ISLAMABAD: In a major shake-up in Pakistan’s sports administration, the federal government has assigned additional charge of Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to Mohyuddin Wani, the Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), who is widely known for his close involvement in sports affairs.

The development came after the removal of Muhammad Yasir Pirzada from his position as Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board. He has been directed to report to his parent department, the Federal Board of Revenue, according to a notification issued by the Establishment Division.

Muhammad Yasir Pirzada, a Grade-20 officer of the Inland Revenue Group, was asked to report to the Federal Board of Revenue with immediate effect.

The government has entrusted Mohyuddin Wani with the additional responsibilities of DG PSB for a period of three months or until the appointment of a permanent director general.

Mohyuddin Wani is regarded as a sports-friendly administrator and is also currently serving as the ad-hoc president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
