ISLAMABAD, MAY 15 /DNA/ – Former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Patron of Sarwar Shahida Trust, Gen.(R)Â Zubair Mahmood Hayat, has emphasized that economic prosperity is intrinsically linked with health and education, stating that a healthy nation produces a stronger workforce, greater productivity and sustainable economic growth.
He expressed these views while addressing the Sarwar Shahida Trust Cardiovascular Health Seminar held at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the chief guest. The seminar was attended by members of the business community, medical experts, social figures and representatives of civil society.
Gen. ® Zubair Mahmood Hayat stressed that the growing burden of cardiovascular and other non-communicable diseases poses a serious challenge to Pakistan’s socio-economic development. He observed that Pakistan unfortunately ranks among the countries with a high prevalence of several critical diseases, which requires urgent and coordinated efforts from both the public and private sectors.
He underlined that promoting healthy lifestyles, regular medical checkups and preventive healthcare awareness among families, workplaces and communities has become the need of the hour. He further called upon philanthropists and welfare-oriented organizations to step forward and support institutions that are serving humanity in the fields of health and education.
Speaking on the occasion, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sardar Tahir Mehmood highlighted the Chamber’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. He said that ICCI firmly believes in collaborating with institutions working for the welfare of society, particularly in the sectors of healthcare, education and community development.
He stated that a healthy business community is essential for economic stability and national progress, adding that awareness seminars and preventive healthcare campaigns can play an important role in reducing the growing incidence of fatal diseases.
Dr. Shoaib Sarwar Hashmi President Sarwar Shahida Trust delivered a comprehensive presentation on cardiovascular health and highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, physical activity and timely medical tests to prevent life-threatening diseases.
Dr. Saeed Ellahi and Dr. Jehanzeb Khan of Sarwar Shahida Trust also shared valuable insights and practical recommendations aimed at creating greater public awareness regarding preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.
The ceremony was moderated by the ICCI Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, who also highlighted ICCI’s contributions towards social welfare and public awareness initiatives.
