ISLAMABAD, 22 MAY (DNA) — Director General Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro Friday confirmed that Hajj services are in full operation, with pilgrims benefiting from air-conditioned accommodations, wheelchair accessibility and round-the-clock digital coordination through WhatsApp to assist and guide pilgrims at every stage of their journey, ensuring better communication, comfort and support throughout the Hajj process.
In an exclusive conversation with local media outlet regarding Hajj 2026 arrangements, DG Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro confirmed that more than 117,000 pilgrims under the government scheme have already reached Saudi Arabia, while the remaining groups are still in transit as the ongoing flight operations continue smoothly.
He said that comprehensive facilities have been put in place for pilgrims, including air-conditioned arrangements in Mina, improved accommodation standards and round-the-clock support to ensure maximum comfort and convenience during the pilgrimage. He further highlighted that dedicated helplines and WhatsApp-based coordination systems have been activated to assist pilgrims in real time, ensuring quick response to queries and effective communication throughout their journey.
He added that transport arrangements between Madinah and Jeddah have been streamlined on a 50-50 basis, while more than 1,700 Hajj coordinators are actively working with building management teams to ensure smooth logistics, proper guidance, and seamless facilitation for all pilgrims. He also noted that this year’s Hajj operation has introduced further upgraded facilities for Pakistani pilgrims, including better travel coordination, improved lodging arrangements, enhanced medical support services and strengthened on-ground assistance teams to ensure a more comfortable and well-organized pilgrimage experience.
He also explained that on the Day of Arafat , when million pilgrims perform the essential rites and many undertake long-distance walking, special smooth arrangements have also been made to manage the massive movement of people efficiently and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the day.
He also appreciated the efforts of both the Government of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Pakistan for their close coordination and continuous improvements in Hajj management, saying that joint arrangements, upgraded facilities and better communication systems have significantly enhanced the overall experience for pilgrims, ensuring a more organized, safe, and comfortable pilgrimage this year.
