WAH CANTT, 25 MAY (DNA) — Two suspected car lifters here on Monday were injured and arrested after a shootout with police  while three accomplices escaped, the police said .They said a police patrolling team signaled a suspicious vehicle carrying five men to stop in the Saddar Wah area, but the suspects  opened fire on the police and attempted to flee.
During the exchange of fire, two suspects were wounded and taken into custody, while the remaining three escaped under the cover of darkness, the police added.The police recovered a stolen car, reportedly snatched from the Saddar Wah area last month, along with weapons from the suspects.
The police said the detained men had prior criminal records in Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa involving vehicle theft, attempted murder, fraud and illegal weapons charges. Two bullets struck the bulletproof vest of Head Constable, Muhammad Ijaz during the incident, but he was not injured, they added.
The police had launched search operation to arrest the fleeing outlaws, they said adding the injured men were shifted to a hospital , while a forensic teams collected evidence from the site.— DNA
