Islamabad – In a telephone conversation with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Asim Munir, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned recent United States military strikes on Iranian territory, terming them a violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to official sources, Araghchi conveyed Tehran’s deep concern over what he described as “unprovoked aggression” that undermines regional stability and breaches commitments made under the bilateral framework. He stressed that the attacks not only threaten Iran’s sovereignty but also erode trust in international agreements designed to prevent escalation.
General Munir, during the exchange, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and adherence to established accords, including the Islamabad MoU, which was intended to foster cooperation and prevent unilateral military actions.
The conversation comes amid heightened tensions following the US strikes, which have drawn criticism from several quarters. Observers note that Araghchi’s direct outreach to Pakistan’s military leadership underscores Iran’s intent to rally regional support against what it views as violations of international norms.
