ISLAMABAD: In commemoration of the centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Pakistan, together with the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum, inaugurated the photographic exhibition titled “Fidel Por Siempre” (Fidel Forever) and a display of books about the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution.
The inauguration, held at Cuban embassy, was attended by political figures, members of the accredited diplomatic corps, intellectuals, and solidarity friends. Among the guests of honor was the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, as well as Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, who delivered a brilliant speech highlighting the historical stature of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and his legacy.
Fidel’s humanist philosophy continues to guide Cuba’s diplomatic work and solidarity. From the Cuban medical brigades that provided assistance to the Pakistani people after the tragic 2005 earthquake, to the young doctors from this country graduated from Cuban institutions, bilateral relations possess a genuine human solidarity that bears Fidel’s stamp, the Pakistani politician stressed in his speech.
The Ambassador of Cuba, Damián Cordero, recalled that, alongside the celebration of the Commander in Chief’s centenary, National Rebellion Day will also be celebrated in Cuba on July 26—the date when Fidel and a group of young people assaulted the Guillermón Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks in the eastern part of the country to change the life of the Cuban nation.
“The photographic and book exhibition is not simply a look at the past through images and texts, but the celebration of a living legacy, defined by courage, social justice, and unwavering internationalism. It is an encounter with a century of dignity, sovereignty, and solidarity,” the Cuban ambassador emphasized.
Ramzan Mughal, president of the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum and main architect of the exhibition, expressed that through the photo gallery of Fidel, the commitment to preserve shared history and to continue strengthening the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Pakistan is also reaffirmed.
