KOLKATA, JUL 25: The Brazil national football team might soon be seen playing a friendly fixture in Kolkata, a report from ESPN Brasil said on Saturday.
The Brazilian Football Confederation is reportedly in advanced talks with organisers in India to bring the five-time world champion side to Indian shores. These negotiations took place reportedly from the recently concluded FIFA World Cup.
This is part of a larger tour for the Brazilian outfit which is belived to involve fixtures against Australia — on September 25 in Townsville and September 29 in Brisbane. A third friendly fixture could see the Selecao come to India.
The ESPN report also says that the Brazilian federation plans to play more friendlies at home, integrating cities that are usually left out of the national team’s playing schedule.

Kolkata previously played host to Argentine stars Lionel and Rodrigo De Paul and Uruguay star Luis Suarez, but the visit was marred by mismanagement and crowd violence in the West Bengal capital.
Brazilian stars like Neymar Jr. have a huge fan following in India, but the star footballer will not be part of any international friendlies after his retirement from the national side following Brazil’s premature exit from the FIFA World Cup.
