Cristiano Ronaldo may be one of the world’s biggest stars, but he has remained true to his roots, making him even more admired by fans.
The iconic football legend, 41, is reportedly set to marry the love of his life, Georgina Rodriguez, next weekend on the Island where he grew up.
The power couple are said to be tying the knot at Funchal Cathedral, with the reception expected to take place at the five-star Savoy Palace hotel.
Now, The Sun reports Ronaldo will indeed get married at the cathedral, weddings typically begin from 3pm, before celebrations continue at the Savoy Palace Hotel, which boasts four restaurants.
A source said: ‘Guests at the hotel have been told two floors will be out of use on Friday and Saturday, as well as several bar areas.’
It is pertinent to mention that Funchal holds a special in Ronaldo’s heart, as it is his hometown.
Choosing to marry there is said to be a deeply sentimental decision for the football icon, who grew up in poverty before leaving the island at the age of 11 to pursue his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
