ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of France in Pakistan hosted a pre-departure orientation session bringing together representatives from Pakistan International Airlines, partners, alumni, and students preparing to pursue higher education in France.
French Ambassador Nicolas Galey addressed the gathering, congratulating the students on their success in securing admission to French universities and highlighting the growing academic cooperation between France and Pakistan. He noted that only a few years ago, very few Pakistani students studied in France, but thanks to the efforts of Campus France Pakistan and partnerships with local universities, thousands are now enrolled.
This year alone, more than 700 Pakistani students will begin their studies in France, including 33 who have been awarded prestigious scholarships funded by the French Government and the European Union, half of whom are women.
Ambassador Galey emphasized that a French degree is globally recognized and opens doors to international careers, while also offering exposure to innovation, entrepreneurship, and cultural diversity. He reminded students that France hosts over 400,000 international students from 180 countries annually, making it one of the world’s leading destinations for higher education.
The event provided practical guidance on student life, administrative procedures, accommodation, health insurance, and settling into France, while alumni shared personal experiences to help newcomers adapt to French culture and build networks.
The Ambassador also expressed gratitude to PIA, which resumed direct flights from Islamabad to Paris last year and continues to support the Embassy’s initiatives. In a gesture of goodwill, PIA offered two return tickets to students, enabling them to visit their families during their studies. Encouraging students to embrace the adventure ahead, Ambassador Galey urged them to be curious, bold, and proud representatives of Pakistan in France, concluding with warm wishes for their success and happiness: “Travel broadens the mind. Discover France — its language, history, culture, food, and landscapes. You will be the brilliant representatives of your country.”
