ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal said that the defence agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye was not directed against any country but would serve as a guarantee for peace and security in the region.
He said recent developments had demonstrated that the uncertainty and deep shadows of conflicts created by geopolitics in the region had affected not only Pakistan but the entire region.
The minister stressed that countries of the region would have to work together and enhance mutual cooperation to ensure lasting peace and security.
Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye enjoyed strong and enduring historical, religious and cultural ties.
He expressed the hope that the trilateral defence agreement would further strengthen efforts for peace and stability in the region.
