ISLAMABAD, 14 AUG (DNA) — President of Russia Vladimir Putin has extended warm felicitations to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day. In his messages to the president and the prime minister, President Putin conveyed his sincere congratulations to the leadership and people of Pakistan on their national day, the foreign office spokesperson said in a statement on Friday.
The Russian president noted that Russia-Pakistan relations were developing successfully, with Moscow and Islamabad maintaining productive cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as on important regional and global issues.
President Putin expressed confidence that the two countries would continue their constructive joint efforts to further strengthen the entire spectrum of their partnership for the benefit of the friendly peoples of Russia and Pakistan and in the interests of enhancing international security and stability. He also wished President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz good health and every success, and prayed for peace and prosperity for the people of Pakistan. — DNA
