ISLAMABAD, Aug 17: Imam of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, held a telephonic conversation with Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Secretary General of the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, during which the two discussed the prevailing situation in the Muslim world and matters of mutual interest, including the defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.
Sheikh Al-Sudais described the agreement as a source of goodwill, security and greater unity for the Muslim Ummah, particularly Pakistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.

During the conversation, Sheikh Al-Sudais also congratulated Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi on his nomination by the Government of Pakistan for the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. He praised Ashrafi’s affection for the land of the Two Holy Mosques and his services to Islam and Muslims, describing his contributions as commendable and a source of pride.
Thanking Sheikh Al-Sudais, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia went far beyond conventional diplomatic ties and were rooted in enduring bonds of faith, belief and brotherhood. He said the defence agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye would further strengthen the unity, solidarity and collective security of the Muslim world.
Ashrafi said the people of Pakistan and the entire Muslim Ummah held deep affection for the land of the Two Holy Mosques. He said the Muslim world highly valued and respected the services rendered to the Haramain Sharifain by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi people.
“Every Muslim in the world stands shoulder to shoulder with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the security, defence and stability of the land of the Two Holy Mosques,” Ashrafi said. He said Pakistan’s leadership and people had consistently reaffirmed their readiness to stand for the security and stability of the Haramain Sharifain.
“Following the defence agreement, we are even more proud to say that we stand alongside the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as protectors of the Haramain Sharifain,” Ashrafi said.
Sheikh Al-Sudais conveyed his best wishes to Pakistan’s leadership, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the people of Pakistan. He prayed to Almighty Allah to keep Pakistan under His protection, grant the country lasting peace, stability and progress, and safeguard it against all forms of evil and discord.
