ISLAMABAD, Sep 12: The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Capital Emergency Service (CES) conducted a fire-safety mock exercise at Serena Hotel on Saturday to assess emergency preparedness and evacuation procedures.
The exercise simulated a fire emergency through activation of the hotel’s fire alarm system, following which occupants were evacuated through designated emergency exits under established safety procedures.
The drill was also aimed at assessing coordination between emergency response teams, the hotel administration and occupants, and their ability to respond promptly to a fire emergency.
CDA officials said the exercise provided an opportunity to evaluate existing fire-safety arrangements and identify areas requiring improvement in evacuation and emergency response procedures.
The mock exercise was completed successfully.
The CES said regular fire-safety drills and awareness activities were essential for strengthening preparedness, improving coordination and ensuring a quick response during actual emergencies.
The service also reaffirmed its commitment to improving fire-safety and public protection measures across Islamabad.
