ISLAMABAD, OCT 6 /DNA/ – Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), has hosted an important meeting of its Central Standing Committee on Petroleum Products and Dealers at Federation House; where key industry challenges and future course of action were discussed.
Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh informed that a major highlight of the event was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to the Committee’s Convener, Mr. Abdul Sami Khan (Sitara-e-Imtiaz); honoring his outstanding and invaluable contributions to the petroleum sector.
Mr. S. M. Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief, UBG, while paying tribute to Mr. Abdul Sami Khan, noted that his dedicated services to the business community span well over an impressive 50 years. This is a lifetime of exemplary trade leadership; policy advocacy and nurturing future business leaders for the country, he added.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Abdul Sami Khan, emphasized the urgent need to focus on the development of the petroleum sector and to devise strategies to overcome its current challenges. The committee held detailed deliberations on the overall landscape of petroleum products, particularly highlighting the issues and market disruptions caused by daily fuel price fluctuations.
Aligning with global technological shifts, the committee members extensively reviewed the prospect of installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging facilities at petrol pumps nationwide. Furthermore, significant attention was given to the security concerns of petrol pump operators, with participants exchanging views on effective measures to ensure a safe and secure operating environment.
The ceremony was addressed by notable dignitaries; including, Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mirza Ikhtiar Baig; FPCCI SVP, Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon and FPCCI VP, Ms. Qurrat Ul Ain – as well as – the event witnessed a large gathering of distinguished business leaders who came together to honor Mr. Abdul Sami Khan.
