Australia’s limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch is eager to see Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam play in the Big Bash League (BBL).

The Pakistan captain, Azam, has been unable to feature in the BBL due to international commitments in the past.

“It will be great to have world class players in our domestic competitions. Babar is obviously as good as anyone for a long time in this format of the game and T20 cricket,” said Finch in the post-match press conference on Saturday.

“If Babar Azam is available to play Big Bash League, any team would love to have him,” he added.

Finch also lauded the talent in Pakistan and its impact on world cricket.

“The talent of Pakistan cricket is extraordinary. I think world cricket is better when Pakistan cricket are playing well and world cricket is better when Pakistanis have the opportunity to play in our domestic league,” he said.

Skipper Babar Azam hit a second successive century and Imam-ul-Haq an impressive half century Saturday to anchor Pakistan’s first series win over Australia since 2002 with a nine-wicket victory in the third and final one-day international in Lahore.

Australia won the first ODI by 88 runs while Pakistan clinched the second by six wickets, both also at the same venue.

“When you lose the first game then your players need confidence and once they were given that they came back strongly and did well,” said Azam.

“Credit to them for this series win.”
