SARGODHA, Jan 21 (DNA): Ali Amir Hockey Club clinched the 3rd Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Inter-Club Hockey Championship 2026 title after defeating Punjab Hockey Club 5–1 in the final match held at the Sargodha AstroTurf Hockey Stadium.
The winning team displayed exceptional coordination and aggressive gameplay throughout the final encounter, securing a convincing victory over their opponents.
The Chief Guest, Colonel (Col) Muhammad Sarfraz Awan, inaugurated the final match and distributed trophies and prizes among the winners, runners-up, and match officials during the concluding ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest lauded the outstanding performances of the players and described them as future stars of the national sport.
The tournament was supervised by professional match officials, including Sajid Abbas, Kamran Asif, and Aoun Abbas, who were also awarded prizes in recognition of their technical services.
The General Secretary of the District Hockey Association, Chaudhry Fayyaz Ahmed Hanjra, expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army and the Chief of Army Staff for providing a strong platform to promote young talent. He emphasized that such initiatives were crucial for reviving the glory of hockey in the country, while also acknowledging the technical support provided by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and Sports Board Punjab.
The Chief Guest further commended the administrative efforts of the District Hockey Association for the successful conduct of the championship.
