Ambassador Alisher presents credentials to Lankan President

Colombo / Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, formally presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of Sri Lanka, thereby officially assuming duties as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Sri Lanka with residence in Islamabad.

The ceremony, held in Colombo, marked a historic milestone in Uzbekistan-Sri Lanka relations. Ambassador Tukhtaev’s accreditation opens a new chapter of diplomatic engagement and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

In a warm and cordial meeting, Ambassador Tukhtaev and President Dissanayake discussed a wide range of issues concerning bilateral collaboration. Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding political dialogue and enhancing practical cooperation across various sectors. The Sri Lankan President expressed strong interest in establishing closer and multifaceted ties with Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Tukhtaev conveyed greetings from the President of Uzbekistan, H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and welcomed the appreciation expressed by President Dissanayake for Uzbekistan’s progressive reforms under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership.

During the meeting, both parties put forward concrete proposals to enhance collaboration in areas such as politics, economy, tourism, logistics, education, and investment. Emphasis was also placed on building direct connections between the business communities and experts of both countries to foster people-to-people ties and sustainable growth.

Ambassador Tukhtaev expressed his confidence that this new phase in bilateral ties would be grounded in trust, mutual respect, and shared interests, paving the way for a long-term and fruitful partnership between Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
