DAVAO ORIENTAL, OCT 10: A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Mati in Davao Oriental, Philippines, with its epicentre at a depth of 56 kilometres below the surface.
According to details surfaced on Friday, the quake occurred in the region of Davao. Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency first recorded the seismic activity.
A second report, issued by France’s National Seismic Surveillance Network (RéNaSS), placed the magnitude at 5.7. A third assessment from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) measured the tremor at 6.4.
Initial seismic data suggested the quake was widely felt in the vicinity of the epicentre. Light to moderate damage may have occurred as a result.
