ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s rising boxer Ayesha Mumtaz of Pakistan Army has reached the final of the Women’s U18 48kg category at the 3rd Belt & Road International Boxing Gala in China, securing at least a silver medal for the country.
Ayesha, who previously won a bronze medal at the ASBC Asian Junior and School Boxing Championships 2024 in Al Ain City, Abu Dhabi, continued her impressive form by knocking out China’s Chen Xindong in the second round of the semifinal bout.
Pakistan’s squad also registered strong performances with multiple boxers advancing to the quarterfinals and semifinals, reflecting the nation’s growing progress in international boxing.
Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) Chairperson Begum Ishrat Ashraf and President Lt Col ( R) Muhammad Nasir Ijaz Tung lauded the contingent’s discipline and conduct. PBF President also congratulated Ayesha on her remarkable feat and expressed confidence that she will go on to win the final and further raise Pakistan’s flag high.
