On December 25, 2024, Azerbaijan Airlines Flight J2-8243, an Embraer 190 aircraft, was en route from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia. The flight was diverted to Aktau, Kazakhstan, due to an emergency situation on board, reportedly caused by a bird strike. Tragically, the aircraft crashed near Aktau.
