Baku, Apr 14: The Bologna Children’s Book Fair has opened in the Italian city of Bologna. Azerbaijan is participating with a national stand at this prestigious international event, one of the world’s most important children’s book fairs, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Center operating under the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Italy.

A delegation consisting of local writers and publishers is attending the fair. At the Azerbaijan stand, more than 250 books and publications from leading Azerbaijani publishing houses—including “Libra Kitab”, “Galam”, “3 Alma”, “Everest”, “Tahsil”, “Aghilli Bala”, “Aspoligraf”, “Altun Kitab”, “Ganun”, “Ting”, “Sabat”, and “Radius”—prepared for young readers are being presented to visitors.

As part of the event, the Azerbaijani delegation held a series of business meetings with representatives of publishing houses, children’s writers, and illustrators from Türkiye, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom to discuss book publishing, distribution, and international cooperation.

The delegation also met with Shereen Kreidieh, President of the 2026 Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury, and exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in the field of children’s literature.

The fair, which will continue until April 16, will feature book presentations by Azerbaijani authors as well as ongoing meetings between local publishers and international partners.
