BAKU, Nov 6 (AZERTAC/APP/DNA):The High-Level Roundtable of the Arab Coordination Group was held in Baku. The discussions focused on the investment opportunities shaping the region’s economic landscape, the potential of the liberated territories, strategic infrastructure projects, and prospects for joint financing and co-investment initiatives.
In his remarks, Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, underscored Azerbaijan’s productive cooperation with the institutions comprising the Group. The minister emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration to promote sustainable development, deepen economic integration, and advance shared prosperity.
Mikayil Jabbarov briefed the participants on Azerbaijan’s favorable business and investment climate, efforts aimed at developing the non-oil sector and achieved progress on this track. He also highlighted the restoration and the economic revival of the liberated territories, promotion of entrepreneurship, as well as vast economic potential of the Garabagh and the East Zangezur regions.
Other speakers included Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group; Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the Fund of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC); Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD); Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD); Waleed Albahar, Acting Director General of Kuwait Fund for Economic Development; Eldar Azizov, Head of the Baku City Executive Authority; Zaur Mikayilov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency; Saleh Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads; and Vusal Aslanov, Chairman of the Baku Metro CJSC.
The event saw the signing of the Statement of Intent between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Arab Coordination Group Members, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
These landmark documents, which elevate Azerbaijan’s partnership with the Arab Coordination Group to a new stage, outline key directions for enhancing the efficiency of joint activities, establishing business platforms, and developing new mechanisms to promote investments across shared priority sectors.
