Belgian Theatre Meets Pakistani Culture: Maurice Maeterlinck’s Plays in Urdu

Islamabad, 22 November 2023 – The Embassy of Belgium is proud to present three theatrical masterpieces staged by the Islamabad-based theatre group, “Theatre Wallay”, as part of the Belgian Week 2023 festivities in Pakistan. These plays, written by the Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck, laureate of Nobel Prize of Literature in 1911, were translated into Urdu by Shaukat Niazi, a decorated and award-winning translator and will grace the stage at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

Maurice Maeterlinck’s work, renowned for its profound symbolism and evocative storytelling, is set to mesmerize the audience in Islamabad.
