CDA Chairman reviews emergency preparedness in surprise visit

ISLAMABAD, MAY 9 /DNA/ – Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and DG Civil Defence, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that the administration remains fully prepared at all times to ensure citizen safety, maintain discipline, and serve the public with dedication. He expressed these views during a surprise visit to the CDA’s Emergency and Disaster Management Headquarters, where he reviewed emergency preparedness and rapid response mechanisms in detail. He was accompanied by CDA Member Administration Talat Mahmood.

During his visit to the Emergency and Disaster Management Headquarters, Chairman CDA observed a comprehensive fire and rescue drill, inspected emergency equipment, and evaluated the performance of firefighters through mock drills. He said that firefighters risk their lives not only to save precious lives of citizens during emergencies but also to protect public property, showcasing their unwavering commitment through best of the best training skills and abilities.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhwa stated that the preparedness and capabilities of the Emergency and Disaster Management Wing CDA are being further refined to meet international standards. He added that CDA has established a world-class firefighting force to safeguard citizens during any emergency. The visit resonated with chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” (Long Live Pakistan), by firefighters as the emergency and rescue teams demonstrated their state-of-the-art vehicles, machinery, and trained personnel through mock drills, reflecting the Directorate’s strong resolve and will to protect lives and property.

Commending the Emergency and Disaster Management Wing’s 24/7 readiness, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stressed the importance of public awareness as well as training to volunteers. He directed Emergency and Disaster Management wing CDA to extend extensive training programs and public awareness campaigns to aware citizens about emergency and disaster management protocols.

Later, under the directives of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner ICT and DG Civil Defence, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, CDA’s Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate formally launched a comprehensive training program at the CDA Disaster Academy in Sector H-11, Islamabad. The program aims to equip volunteers with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage emergency situations through hands-on training and mock drills.

Participants thanked Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and DG Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa for organizing such a great initiative, which enhances public preparedness and response capabilities during emergency and disaster.
