ISLAMABAD, APR 8 /DNA/ – Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar has commended the contributions of National Centre for Cyber Security (NCCS) and its affiliated laboratories in advancing national security and supporting the country’s development.
During a meeting, hosted by Air University Islamabad, the NCCS team presented a comprehensive overview of the centre’s progress and highlighted its core competencies and key achievements in the field of cyber security. The centre apprised the Chairman that it has developed 62 products, of which 10 have been successfully evaluated and validated by National Cyber Emergency Response Team (PKCERT) and are now ready for market deployment.
Emphasising the strategic importance of cyber security as a critical domain of modern warfare and national security, Vice Chancellor Air University Air Marshal (R) Abdul Moeed Khan highlighted the challenges faced by the Centre and its affiliated labs, particularly in business development, visibility and competitiveness at national and international levels. He shared a forward-looking strategy focused on strengthening public-private partnerships and creating avenues for commercialization of research outputs, essential for the Centre’s sustainability and growth.
The Chairman HEC commended the contributions of NCCS and its affiliated laboratories in advancing national security and supporting the country’s development. He reaffirmed HEC’s continued support and requested the Vice Chancellor to actively oversee the performance of affiliated labs, ensuring their functionality and productivity.
The Chairman further committed that NCCS expertise will be utilized for conducting cybersecurity audits of HEC and universities, aiming to enhance institutional resilience and safeguard critical digital infrastructure across the higher education sector.
The meeting was attended by Project Director NCCS Dr. Ghalib Asadullah Shah and representatives of the centre’s affiliated laboratories across the country.
