ISLAMABAD, AUG 21 (DNA):Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi, paid a farewell call on Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, in Islamabad.
Chairman Senate lauded the ambassador’s role in further cementing the brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE. He said that during the envoy’s tenure, close interaction between the leadership and the people of both nations added new dimensions to bilateral relations.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani paid tribute to the vision and leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, whose foresight transformed the Emirates into a hub of economy, trade, tourism, and technology.
The Chairman remarked that Pakistan highly values its half-a-century-long relationship with the UAE—relations that have stood the test of time. Referring to the constructive role of the UAE leadership during the Pakistan-India war of May 2025, he described it as a golden chapter in bilateral ties.
He further expressed satisfaction over the continuity of high-level exchanges, underscoring Pakistan’s priority to transform these relations into a strategic and multidimensional economic partnership—aimed at addressing shared challenges such as poverty alleviation, food security, and climate change.
On economic and trade cooperation, the Chairman stressed Pakistan’s desire to diversify trade collaboration and create new avenues for investment. Highlighting the role of the Pakistani diaspora, he noted that around 1.8 million Pakistanis are contributing to the UAE’s development, while their remittances remain vital for Pakistan’s economy.
Chairman Senate also extended a formal invitation for the participation of the UAE’s parliamentary delegation in the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) scheduled for November 2025. He said the forum would provide an opportunity to benefit from each other’s experiences.
Concluding the meeting, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani conveyed his best wishes for Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi and affirmed that Pakistan holds his services in high esteem. He expressed confidence that Pakistan-UAE relations will continue to grow stronger in the future.
