ISLAMABAD, Apr 12: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Sunday has advised the citizens in Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab to take precautionary measures as it has issued a rain alert from April 12 to April 17, urging people to stay vigilant and prepare for the expected weather conditions.
The NDMA, in coordination with media channels has issued a special message highlighting that snowfall is expected in the mountainous areas, along with windstorms and hailstorms during this period. Meanwhile, hot weather conditions will continue to prevail in Sindh and Balochistan.
Intermittent rain is expected to continue in Islamabad and several cities across Punjab, including Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Mianwali and Mandi Bahauddin from April 13 to 17. Thunderstorms and wind are also forecasted for these areas, with citizens advised to stay indoors during heavy rain and avoid travel on flooded roads.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thunderstorms and winds are likely to affect districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur. People in these regions should secure loose objects and take shelter during gusty winds and storms.
Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, and DI Khan are expected to experience rain with gusty winds and hail. Residents are urged to protect crops, vehicles, and property from hail damage and stay updated on weather alerts.
Rain is also expected in Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Astore, Diamer, Ghazar, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, and Neelum Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. People in these areas should be cautious of landslides and road blockages, particularly in mountainous regions.
