CJP Isa decides to auction luxury vehicles provided to chief justice by govt

ISLAMABAD, DEC 01 (DNA) — Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Qazi Faez Isa has ordered the auction of two luxury vehicles allocated for the head of the apex court by the federal and Punjab governments.

The money, to be obtained after the auction, will be spent on the public transport. The chief justice has decided to auction Mercedes-Benz worth Rs61 million bought in 2020 and the bullet-proof Land Cruiser provided by the Punjab government.

A letter has been sent to the Cabinet Secretary and the Punjab Chief Secretary in this regard. The letter reads that auction the Mercedes-Benz, worth of Rs 61 million, purchased in 2020 and the bullet-proof Land Cruiser given by the Punjab government.

According to the letter, it is not appropriate to import luxury vehicles for constitutional positions. The letter also mentions that importing luxury vehicles for the constitutional posts is not appropriate.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has not used any of the vehicles scheduled for the auction. The letter further read that the amount received after auctioning these vehicles will be spent on public transport. — DNA
