RAWALPINDI, Oct 12 (APP/DNA): The Punjab government has provided a state-of-the-art 30-bed cardiac ward at Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) by renovating and refurbishing existing structure. The ward has been converted to the latest cardiac facility for the general public reflecting Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s commitment to delivering high level healthcare services across the province.
The newly inaugurated ward, comprising 20 general cardiac beds and 10 specialized beds in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) for emergencies, comes equipped with the latest machinery and expert surgeons. The ward addresses a pressing demand for expanded heart treatment options in the city along with sharing a portion of patients influx at the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC). With full functionality, the ward has started treating and curing the patients soon after its inaugural.
“The ward is fully functional with 24/7 services and with availability of latest equipment and presence of expert cardiologists”, said MS BBH, Dr Sharjil Sheikh in a brief talk with APP.
He informed that cardiac examinations including ECHO and other tests were being done in a regular stream and medical staff was fully engaged with OPD and indoor patients treatment.
The electro-bio-medical equipment is completely engaged in the ward which is evident from the number of echo tests being conducted there. Organized assembly of patients in ques reflects the continuous operationalization of the machines at the ward. Not only the Rawalpindi citizens, but from other parts of the region, particularly from the north, a large number of patients visit the hospital for instant medical services.
“The BBH is especially vital for residents of Rawalpindi and beyond, as patients from areas like Swat, other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir routinely seek care at BBH and RIC”, said a senior medical officer deployed at the cardiac ward.
Patients’ satisfaction regarding the facility remains testimonial in this regard.
“This initiative highlights CM’s proactive approach of improved performance in healthcare infrastructure”, said a patient attended at the ward.
The provincial administration continues to prioritize improvements in the health sector, ensuring steady progress.
The cardiac ward at BBH is a part of ongoing health initiatives, including a dedicated 40 bed ward, expandable to 100 bed-dengue ward, and improved trauma center.
Soon after the inaugural last week, the beds occupancy has been seen with greater patients.
Various strides in the health sectors by the Punjab government reflect a larger narrative of improved healthcare facilities.
