COAS actions boost the Army's morale and public support

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of the FPCCI Advisory Board and National Business Group Pakistan, President of Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum and All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain said on Wednesday that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir has boosted the army’s morale through his actions.

He said that COAS actions have improved the credibility and professionalism of the vital institution, while public support for him is continuously increasing.

According to Mian Zahid Hussain, Syed Asim Minir has improved the institution’s accountability and eliminated any form of partiality or immunity.

Speaking to the business community, the veteran business leader stated that General Syed Asim Munir is not only conducting effective operations against terrorists, anarchists, and criminals but also assisting the government in combating various mafias.

He said that the Army is sacrificing lives in the war against terrorists, and the whole nation pays homage to them.

The business leader said that the army is taking various measures to prevent the activities of anti-national forces, subversive elements, and their facilitators, and the sacrifices of the army men for the defence of the motherland will not go in vain.

Mian Zahid Hussain added that the recent monsoon rains have destroyed millions of farmers’ crops, leaving them bankrupt adding that crop destruction can increase the food security problem.

In addition, the scarcity of raw materials in the industrial sector can exacerbate the issues facing this crucial sector therefore the government should plan adequately to reduce the impact of rain.

The rains have destroyed millions of acres of crops and killed millions of cattle. Six and a half lakh acres of land in Punjab and Balochistan, home to cotton, dates, sugarcane, and rice crops, have suffered damage.

Climate change, according to Mian Zahid Hussain, is causing an annual increase in rain-related damages. These damages affect thousands of farmers and their crops, leading to a decline in agricultural output and price fluctuations, necessitating the development of effective strategies.

Mian Zahid Hussain added, “We welcome the recent reduction in inflation, but we will feel the effects of crop failure.”

The textile sector will experience a surge in prices due to a decline in cotton production, while the sugar mills will experience a decline in sugarcane yield, thereby impacting production. The need for foreign exchange to import cotton and other commodities will erode the value of the rupee.

Mian Zahid Hussain added that we must address climate change as a permanent threat to find sustainable solutions that will improve the lives of farmers.
