RAWALPINDI, JUN 12 (APP/DNA):Constable Syed Sajjad Hussain embraced martyrdom while a most wanted dacoit was killed during a shootout in the area of Wah Saddar Police Station on Wednesday night.
According to the Rawalpindi Police spokesman, the dead dacoit was involved in dozens of dacoit incidents. His accomplices escaped while firing, and a search was underway to arrest them.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of martyred Constable Syed Sajjad Hussain were offered here at the Police Lines Headquarters.
Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa, City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani, other senior police officers and personnel, senior officers of the Pakistan Army, and and a large number of citizens attended the Namaz-e-Janaza.
A well-dressed police contingent presented a salute while officers laid wreaths on the coffin of the martyr.
The martyred constable left behind two sons and two daughters among the mourners.
RPO Alpa, on the occasion, said, “Martyrs are our benefactors whose sacrifices are unforgettable, and we stand with their families every hour.”
CPO Hamdani said Constable Sajjad’s sacrifice would always be remembered as he gave his life in the line of duty.
“The Rawalpindi Police do not budge to make any sacrifice for protecting the lives and property of citizens and preventing crimes,” he added.
The CPO said some 122 Rawalpindi cops had embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
After the funeral prayers, the body of Constable Sajjad was sent to his native area, Jhangi Daim (in the limits of Chauntra Police Station, Rawalpindi District) with official honours.
