Corruption in Lahore board: Over 2,000 students’ 9th results withheld

LAHORE, AUG 23: A major corruption incident has been uncovered in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, where employees allegedly embezzled examination fees from students.

The scandal surfaced after the results of more than 2,000 ninth-grade students were withheld, raising serious concerns about transparency in the board’s examination system.

Employees suspended, inquiry launched

Following the revelation, the Lahore Board suspended three employees directly involved in the case. An official inquiry has been launched under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore to investigate the matter in detail.

According to reports, many students who had deposited their examination fees through banks and online platforms later found that their payments had not been received by the board.

Students asked to pay heavy fines

In some cases, students were allegedly instructed to deposit fines of up to Rs30,000 in order to obtain their exam results.

The Secretary of Lahore Board confirmed that several candidates had sat for exams after depositing their fees, but the amounts were not properly accounted for within the board’s system due to internal malpractice.
